The Hudsonville community will benefit…

and we’re going bowling because of your generosity!  Excitement for the opportunity to help others grew quickly as the PE teachers announced that the PE CARES Food Drive would begin on Wednesday, November 1.

Some students bought food items using their own money.  Other students collected food items from their neighbors.  Families worked together to gather food from their pantries or road trip to the local grocery stores.

In the end, 1,012 food items were collected by the students and families from our classroom.  These were added to the massive amount of food items donated by other classrooms that lined the hallway outside the gym.

Thank you for making this food drive a HUGE success! 🙂

We had a great year of giving for PE CARES!!!  GT elementary students and their families donated 3,987 items to Love Inc. in Hudsonville.  Thank you all for supporting this very worthwhile cause.  Mr. Kooikers class collected the most and will be given a PE CARES bowling t-shirt and taking a field trip to Hudsonville Lanes in the near future 🙂  Way to go!!!

Hudsonville PE CARES

P.E. C.A.R.E.S. = Collecting And Re-giving Essential Supplies

The Physical Education teachers are asking for donations of canned or non-perishable food items between November 11 and November 21.  The items collected will be given to a local ministry for distribution in West Michigan.  The class that brings in the most items will receive a PE CARES t-shirt and a special bowling field trip to Hudsonville Lanes with their physical education teacher.

Let’s join together and show how much we DARE TO CARE for our community.

Two Acts of Mindful Giving

The students in our classroom took the challenge to support our schoolwide service projects, PE Cares and SPARK, very seriously!

As a class, our goal was to collect 60 nonperishable food items.  Amazingly, over 140 items were donated, which will supply local families with much needed food.

Our other goal was to raise $60 for the SPARK Foundation.  Again, the generosity of our students and their families was above and beyond as we collected $120, which will provide 4 rechargeable solar lights for schools in Uganda!

Thank you for helping others, both locally and globally! 🙂
