MEAP Reminder

As you know from my earlier blog post (Oct 1), the MEAP begins this week.  I have listed our grade level test times below.  The test days are mandated by the State.

On test days, all students must be on time.  If they are late, and the test has begun, they cannot take the test that day.  Late students will need to sit in the office until the test is completed and take the test on one of the make up dates (also mandated and determined by the state).

Furthermore, if your child needs to leave during the test time, any unanswered questions are scored as wrong.  We ask that you NOT interrupt the MEAP test schedule.

We want all children to do their very best.  This is a high stakes test and we want to do all we can to support them.

Thank you for your support!

MEAP

Students in grades 3, 4 and 5 will be taking the state assessment test (MEAP) beginning Tuesday, October 11 and continue on October  12, 13 and 18.

All students must be present during the full testing period on each of these four days.  If your child is sick on a testing day, KEEP THEM HOME FROM SCHOOL!  Your child will be allowed to make up the test on specific make-up days the following week.

Please help your child to be prepared for the tests with adequate sleep and breakfast.  Rest and a healthy diet provide the best foundation for learning daily…and especially on test days.

The schedule for MEAP tests for each grade is as follows:

Going Home Changes

Each school day, we are helping 590 children exit the building to the correct bus or to parents who are waiting for pick up in the front lobby or to Eagle’s Nest after school care.  In addition, we have students who bike or walk to school.  We take great care in making sure that each child is taken care of each day.  PLEASE send a note to me if you change the going home routine in anyway at all. If I do not have a note, I will follow the planned routine.

  • ALSO:  WE CANNOT TAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE GOING HOME ARRANGEMENTS AFTER 3 PM.
  • ALL CHANGES MUST BE DONE WITH A NOTE TO THE TEACHER OR A CALL TO THE OFFICE.  AGAIN, NO CHANGES CAN BE MADE AFTER 3 PM.

Why do we have this time limit?  The office is extremely busy between 3 pm and 3:40 pm.  There are times in which we cannot answer the phones due to traffic in the office as well as multiple calls coming in to the office.  Also, students are on the playground for recess and it is difficult to reach teachers to make them aware of changes in “going home” the last 40 minutes of the day.

Thank you for you help…and please be patient as we take extra time to safely get your children from school to home.
