Lansing Trip Reminder

4th Grade Trip to Lansing

February 27, 2013

The fourth grade students of Georgetown Elementary School are looking forward to their field trip to Lansing. We will visit the Capitol Building, Michigan Historical Museum and Impression 5 Science Museum (www.impression5.org). Transportation on charter buses will be provided for students and teachers. Parents will carpool to Lansing.

We will leave school shortly after 9 a.m. and return at 4:45 p.m. Please arrange for your child to be picked up at Georgetown Elementary.

Bring a sack lunch. Please make sure everything is disposable.

There is a charge of $3.00 per student. This will be applied to the cost of visiting Impression 5. The Parent Club will cover the remaining balance. The Capitol tour and Historical Museum are free for students.. There may be time to visit a gift shop, so students may bring a small amount of money. However, we are not responsible for lost or stolen money.

Dress in layers. Much of the time we will be indoors, however, we may walk several blocks between the Capitol and museums. February can be cold and windy! Wear comfortable shoes.

It is a long bus ride. Students may bring I-pods and PSP’s (or something similar) with headphones. They will be locked on the bus while we are at the Capitol and museums. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items. Books, Sudoku, crossword, and word search puzzles are encouraged.

Note to Chaperones

We ask that all parent chaperones communicate with one another to organize carpools. Hudsonville Public Schools is not responsible for the cost of parking at the Michigan Historical Museum, so please be prepared to cover this cost. There is no charge for chaperones at the Capitol or Impression 5, but there is a $4.00 admission fee into the Historical Museum.

Parent chaperones, please plan to be in your child’s classroom by 8:45 a.m. This will allow time for handing out maps and schedules, reviewing expectations, and addressing carpooling needs.

Sincerely,

The Fourth Grade Team

Lansing Field Trip

Our 4th grade trip to Lansing is coming very soon!  We are planning to tour the state capitol, Impressions 5 Science Museum and the Michigan Historical Museum on Wednesday, February 27, 2013.

Parents, please consider joining us as team leaders of small groups of students.  Here are a couple of things to consider if you are interested:

  • Parents will not be able to ride the bus to/from Lansing because of space limitations.  Therefore, a parent carpool will be organized with the help of the classroom teacher.
  • Parking and travel fees will not be reimbursed by Hudsonville Public Schools, but should be shared within carpool groups.
  • The only admission fee required for parents is $4 for the Michigan Historical Museum.

The state capitol limits the number of people we can take on the tour, but we should be able to accommodate all parents who want to go!  If there is more parent interest than what we are able to accommodate, there will be a random drawing to select the adults who join us in Lansing.

If you would like to be a part of this incredible trip, please email your classroom teacher.

Sincerely,

The 4th Grade teachers
