Reading Logs

We have been busy in our reading workshop!  For instance, we have discussed the importance of making our reading time the best that it can be.  We need to be in charge of our reading to make sure that happens.  This means that we read books that are not too hard, spend extra time reading instead of playing video games, get to know the characters in our books, and share about our books with a friend!  We need to make wise choices so that reading can be the best it can be for each of us.

We have also been working on creating reading goals.  These goals need to be important and realistic.  Every student has determined an individual reading goal.  We also have a class reading goal, which is to increase the amount of reading that we do every day.

One way to keep track of our reading is to record the time we start and stop reading, as well as the number of pages we read in a reading log.  We will have a reading log for every book read.  It is important that students are reading the same book at home as they are at school.  Parents, please use these reading logs frequently to spark discussion about the book your child is reading! 🙂
